So far we have been learning the basic forms this semester, helping us build the foundation to become good writers of poem. This week we ventured into a more creative side of writing, which helps us stretch our imagination to come up with pieces that not only sound good while rhyming, but can be molded into something that flows and has a distinct movement.
I have not attempted to do the villanelle as yet. But, both the villanelle and the pantoum have peaked my interest as they both use repetition throughout which propels the pieces and causes the feel of constant motion.
The Renga for me sounds pretty cool though. . . as it uses the collaborative efforts of poets. I think it is cool to see how peoples' ideas and thoughts mesh together.
All in all I like this week's packets as it helps us push our minds further to create more creative and fluent pieces.
In my next couple postings I will be sharing with you my attempt of a pantoum and also some pieces that I have stumble upon that are good examples of the forms learned.
